Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at The Muny

Why see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers?

The Rollicking Musical Closes The Muny's 102nd Season

Barrelling onto the Muny stage for the first time in nine years, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers brings an Americana-infused score and western story to vivid life with much singing, much dancing and much romance. Based on the 1954  screen classic, the rollicking tale recasts the battle of the sexes as a frontier-style adventure with a high spirited score to match - keep an ear out for iconic musical theatre tunes 'Bless Your Beautiful Hide' and 'Goin' Courting'.

Choreography that turns mundane cowboy chores like chopping wood and raising a barn into entertaining dance numbers punctuates the story of backwoodsman Adam, the eldest of seven brothers. Heading into town in the Oregon Territory, Adam's mission is to find a bride. When he happens upon a local tavern and the beautiful Milly chopping wood, he convinces her to marry her that afternoon. When they return home, she is surprised to find his six brothers. Setting out to reform them, Milly smooths away their uncouthness, whilst Adam comes up with an idea to procure wives for his brethren.
